  1. These very simple movies show the electric fields of a charge that accelerates from rest to beta=0.4 and beta=0.1 in a very short time. For a description see any good Physics textbook like the Berkeley Physics Coures "Waves" (F.S.Crawford, McGraw-Hill), or the very clear paper  by Tessman and Finnell "Electric Field of an Accelerating Charge", Am.J.Phys. vol. 35, 523 (1967).
